Coming Home

Coming Home is a collaborative project with my daughter. She worked with a disposable camera as a visual diary, while I photographed in parallel.

Coming Home reflects on what it means to find safety and a sense of belonging after upheaval. Using a mix of Mia’s disposable-camera images and my own layered, abstract photographs, the series moves between distance and closeness. It invites viewers to think about how home can be an inner state as much as a physical place.


The project reflects on trauma, memory and resilience, but also on the ethics of working across roles: as mother, photographer and collaborator. By combining her photographs, my own, and the conversations between us, the work asks how images can support healing and reframe difficult experiences.
